Contractor Payment Statements for Foreign Workers

Generate professional, detailed payment records for international contractors without payroll software.

  • Addresses outside the U.S.
  • In English and U.S. dollars
  • From $6.99 per statement
Contractor Statement with sample data for a payee with an address outside the United States, amounts in U.S. dollars
One page per payment: who paid whom, for what, how much, and the total for the year.

Why customers choose it

Their address, wherever they are

Enter the street, city, region and postal code, then choose the country. The statement prints the full address with the country name in English.

Clear amounts in U.S. dollars

Each statement shows the services, quantities and rates, the amount paid and the year-to-date total, all in U.S. dollars.

Honest by design

Contractors aren't on payroll, so the statement carries no employee tax withholding. It's clearly labeled as a payment statement for an independent contractor.

No payroll software

No account, no subscription, nothing to install. Fill in the details, check the free preview, pay once and download PDF, ZIP and JPEG files.

How it works

  1. Enter both parties

Add your business as the payer, then the contractor's name and address abroad. Choose a taxpayer ID type, or None if they don't have a U.S. taxpayer ID.

  2. Describe the payment

List the services with quantities and rates, or a flat amount, plus the service period and pay date. Enter earlier payments this year so the year-to-date total is right.

  3. Preview, pay, download

Check every number in the free preview, then pay once. Files are ready in seconds and available for 30 days. Purchased documents are final.

A proper record for every international payment

An international transfer often arrives with little more than a reference line. A contractor payment statement turns it into a clear record: one page per payment showing who paid whom, for which service period, how much, and the running total for the year.

Choose the Contractor Statement template, one of our eight, and you get a document built for a working relationship without payroll. Your contractor can match it to their invoices, and you keep an orderly file of what you paid and when.

  • Your business name and address as the payer
  • The contractor's name and address, including the country
  • Services with quantities and rates, or a flat amount
  • The service period, pay date and an invoice or reference number
  • Any deductions or reimbursed expenses
  • Gross payment, net payment and the total paid year to date

Built for cross-border work

Contractor statements accept addresses outside the United States, so the statement shows where your contractor actually is. Statements are in English and amounts are in U.S. dollars, so enter the dollar figures from your payment records.

A statement doesn't need a U.S. taxpayer ID. If your contractor doesn't have one, choose None and no number prints. If they do have an SSN, ITIN or EIN, choose that type and only the last four digits appear, for example ITIN XXX-XX-5678.

Tax paperwork: the general picture

U.S. payers usually collect Form W-9 from payees who are U.S. persons. Foreign individuals generally give a U.S. payer Form W-8BEN instead, when the payer asks for it, and businesses generally use Form W-8BEN-E. The contractor gives the form to you, and it is not sent to the IRS.

Which forms apply, and whether anything must be withheld or reported, depends on the facts, including where the work is performed. A tax professional can confirm what applies to your payments. A contractor statement is a payment record; it isn't a tax form and doesn't replace any IRS filing.

Paying contractors in the U.S. too?

The same Contractor Statement works for contractors in the United States, and at year end you can add 1099-NEC recipient copies to the same checkout. If a contractor's W-9 lists an ITIN, see 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC with an ITIN. Our W-2 vs. 1099 guide explains how employees and contractors differ, and the 1099-NEC generator guide covers thresholds and deadlines.

Questions, answered

Can I create a statement for a contractor outside the United States?

Yes. Contractor statements accept addresses outside the United States, and the country prints in English. Each statement shows the services, the amount paid and the year-to-date total in U.S. dollars.

Do I have to enter a taxpayer ID?

No. Choose None and no taxpayer ID prints. If your contractor has an SSN, ITIN or EIN, choose that type and only the last four digits appear on the statement.

Can amounts show in another currency?

No. Statements show amounts in U.S. dollars and print in English, so enter the dollar figures from your payment records.

Is a contractor statement a tax form?

No. It's a payment record for you and your contractor. It doesn't replace any form the IRS requires, and PayStubShop doesn't file anything with the IRS. For the forms that apply to a contractor abroad, ask a tax professional.

Should a foreign contractor give me a W-9 or a W-8BEN?

Generally, U.S. persons give a W-9, and foreign individuals give a W-8BEN when the payer requests it. Either way, the form comes to you, not the IRS. A tax professional can confirm which one fits your situation.

How much does a contractor statement cost?

One statement is $6.99, and each additional statement in the same order costs less. Pay once, with no account or subscription, and download PDF, ZIP and JPEG files right away.

Can I edit a statement after I buy it?

We believe in transparency. You get full access to our live preview before you enter your payment details. Review every number, check the layout, and choose your template. Once purchased, your document is finalized and cannot be edited. If you need a different document, you can easily start a new order.
