Questions

What is the identifiable event code?

A letter from A to H in box 6 that names what triggered the cancellation, such as G when a creditor decides to stop collecting or F for a discharge by agreement. The editor lists each code with its meaning.

Does interest go in box 2 or box 3?

Box 2 is the total amount discharged. If that total includes interest, enter the interest part in box 3 as well; the form keeps box 3 within box 2.

Which tax years can I prepare Form 1099-C for?

2025 and 2026. Each year uses the IRS edition in effect for it, and the preview shows exactly that edition.

How much does Form 1099-C cost?

$9.99 per recipient, paid once at checkout. There is no account, subscription or extra fee, and you see the full filled form before you pay.
